About Us
Western Technology Services (WTS) is a central source committed to providing high-quality, cost-effective technology solutions and services to the campus community in support of the teaching and research missions of the University. WTS works collaboratively with other IT groups within Western’s faculties and support units to leverage central supported technology solutions and services where it makes sense. 

Responsibilities
The Operations Analyst (Datacenter) works with other members of the Operations team to manage Western's datacenters and to monitor Western’s IT Infrastructure to ensure that IT services are available and able to meet the needs of the organization.  The role deploys, installs, maintains, and configures technologies related to the campus network and data centres, supports the definition of technology strategies for the infrastructure and applications required to support team goals, and provides escalated support and problem resolution to junior staff and clients. The Operations Analyst will also participate in WTS and Operations projects as required.

Qualifications
Education:
-   College Diploma in an Information Technology field or a University Degree with at least a minor in Computer Science/Engineering or other information technology field  
-   Some course work in datacenter technologies, network technologies or programming preferred


Experience:
-   4 years' experience in IT Infrastructure with experience in Datacentre Operations and working with datacentre and networking technologies 
-   Experience with systems programming preferred


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
-   Knowledge of datacenter, network, and server technologies 
-   Familiarity with various operating system environments 
-   Proficient in technical documentation to keep documentation and user manuals up to date and to reflect changes to services and customer feedback 
-   Demonstrated communication skills to effectively interact with technical and nontechnical users 
-   Demonstrated organizational skills, including managing multiple competing priorities and an ability to adapt quickly to emerging priorities 
-   Ability to explain the immediate context of the situation, asking questions with follow-up, and soliciting advice prior to taking action 
-   Ability and willingness to stay abreast of technological developments with a commitment to ongoing learning and professional development 
-   Critical thinking and discernment to assess and scope areas for process improvement and an ability to offer creative solutions 
-   Strong customer service skills to handle inquiries and resolve issues in a professional and timely manner 
-   Attention to detail when executing routine tasks  
-   Takes initiative to ensure that outcomes meet internal and external customer requirements 
-   Ability to work independently on tasks with appropriate training and guidance 
-   Ability to make day-to-day decisions based on established guidelines 
-   Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
-   Familiarity with systems programming/operating system scripting
