Cost Accountant

Job Description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Budget Control and Reporting

  • Compile reports in the format of actual vs. budget for management review;
  • Update rolling forecast in complementary to the budget;
  • Create and distribute expense reports by responsibility centers;
  • Design and generate KPI matrix for continuous improvement;
  • Consolidate and complete reporting package to the parent companies.

Product Costing

  • Apply and maintain Job-order costing system;
  • Sort and distribute all manufacturing costs to the designed cost pools;
  • Work with Job cost sheet from Excel to ERP;
  • Work out the predetermined overhead rate;
  • Handle the over or under-applied manufacturing overhead;
  • Use visualized planning and reporting approach;
  • Prepare sales price quotations to support business development.

Project Costing

  • Identify and sort all applicable inputs in categories so that they can be correctly analyzed and prepared;
  • Establish baseline costs for the project and estimate other costs based on this information;
  • Clarify the milestones of progress to allow revenue recognition and match costs;
  • Identify and highlight opportunities of operational savings;
  • Provide reports on the status of each project regularly.

Physical Inventory

  • Work with warehouse colleagues to maintain a log book of kitting;
  • Work on the procedures of inventory valuation and reservation;
  • Support supply chain and QA on inventory control;
  • Improve the procedures of cycle count and annual count.

Period Close

  • Cut-off period end material consumption to ensure all material costs are accounted for;
  • Review results of material consumption and inventory balances at period end;
  • Prepare journal entries on related accrual and adjustment;
  • Review, reconcile and analyze specific general ledger accounts to ensure financial integrity.

Others

  • Maintain database for Statistics Canada Survey;
  • SR&ED records keeping and claim support;
  • Response to request from external auditor and other stakeholders;
  • Support implementation of internal control.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Must have sound experience in manufacturing environment, e.g. large equipment assembly;
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with managers and colleagues;
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills;
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a challenging fast-paced environment;
  • High level of Excel application in addition to ERP e.g. Navision;
  • Ability to lead a process and project;
  • Bachelor degree in related field, plus CPA designation, or MBA accounting.
