Job Description
QA Specialist Level 2
As a QA Specialist (Level 2), you will plan, design and deploy effective test suites and regimes for in-house development, software application development, information system launches, and operations systems enhancements. You will apply proven analytical and problem-solving skills to help validate, verify, communicate and resolve systems/software application issues through careful testing to ensure that our applications are defect-free and conform to client specifications.
Responsibilities include:
Testing & Design (50%)
- Execute and modify test scripts and test plans according to specifications;
- Conduct all types of application testing as needed, such as system, unit, regression, load, and acceptance testing methods;
- Collaborate with analysts, designers, and system owners in the testing of new software programs and applications;
- Work under the leadership of a senior QA resource
Analysis (20%)
- Analyze documentation and technical specifications of any new application under deployment or consideration to determine its intended functionality;
- Evaluate, plan, design, develop, and deploy testing techniques for new applications, products, and/or enhancements to existing applications throughout their development/product lifecycles.
Documentation & Communication (30%)
- Produce defect reports that are easily re-produced and fixed by the other project team members;
- Communicate test progress, test results, and other relevant information to QA project lead;
- Collaborate with other team members to understand the project at hand and to determine resolutions to issues found;
- Contribute to pre-testing phase of project development by evaluating proposals in order to identify potential problem areas, and make the appropriate recommendations.
Successful candidates will be…
- A post-secondary graduate, 4 year college diploma or university degree in Software Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent education/experience
- Post secondary education in computer science or software engineering or equivalent work experience.
- 2 -5 years quality assurance or computer related experience.
- Strong communication skills (both written and oral)
- Solid understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives
- Good understanding of SDLC
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Exceptionally self-motivated, directed, and detail-oriented
- Good analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities
- On-call availability and periodic overtime.
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
