POSITION SUMMARY: The Medical Office Assistant will perform general medical office procedures, schedule and confirm medical appointments, initiate and maintain confidential medical files and records. This person will participate in the implementation of medical surveillance programs such as audiometric testing and fork lift medicals. The Medical Office Assistant will promote Health and Wellness initiatives.

EXPERIENCE:
The incumbent must possess strong interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills; demonstrate initiative and proven organizational skills; ability to work with people on all levels; computer literacy and knowledge of community resources, experience in Health education and promotion. Demonstrate adherence to professional standards of practice, excellent working knowledge of relevant Health and Safety legislation and WSIB Act.
Interpersonal skills are important in dealing with Team Members at all levels. The Medical Office Assistant is required to handle sensitive issues and to protect confidentiality of medical information.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of a Medical Office Assistant program at an accredited institution or applicable work experience working in a medical field
RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Microsoft Office; including Power Point, Word, Excel, Outlook
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate
- Follow and abide by all government, Legal, Magna and Formet rules and regulations.
- Make referrals for medical assessments as necessary.
- Make appropriate referrals to EAP or other agencies when necessary. Provide follow up support as needed.
- Maintain well-stocked emergency response equipment. Ensure that First Aid supplies are well stocked, especially for all shifts.
- Perform periodic health assessments, including hearing tests and fork truck medicals, AWP medicals.
- Maintain confidential accurate health files and reports for statistical purposes.
- Maintain positive, professional interpersonal communication at all levels.
- Schedule routine medical appointments, and communicate information.
- Understand, perform all duties and promote themselves in a manner that reflects Magna’s Employee Charter, and Formet’s Vision and Values: Honesty, Trust, Respect, Fairness and Loyalty.
- Effectively sustain good team relations and promote a “one team” approach to the delivery of HR Department Services.
- Must uphold and maintain all confidential information as described in the Employee Confidentiality Agreement.
- Other duties as required.
