Job Description

Established in 1973, Vanderwesten & Rutherford Associates Inc. (V&R) provide mechanical and electrical engineering consulting services to a variety of facilities including institutional, healthcare, secondary and post-secondary, industrial, municipal and recreational facilities. With offices in London, and Ottawa, V&R is strategically located to service all of the Ontario market.

V&R is currently looking for an Accounting Manager/ Bookkeeper to join our team of enthusiastic and dedicated professionals. The qualified candidate will have strong bookkeeping, benefits administration, quantitative, and interpersonal skills, as well as proficiency in accounting functions and software programs. We’re looking for a team player with a keen interest in building successful relationships with clients and staff.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and correct books of accounts
  • Keep track of all payments, receivables, payables and revenues
  • Make journals, receive documents and bills
  • Day-to-day accounting operations, coordinating and updating management on a weekly basis
  • Develop monthly and quarterly accounting reports for the management and executive teams
  • Work with corporate accounting firm to prepare year-end closeout and accounting schedules
  • Register employees with our benefits program
  • Maintain updated employee files
  • Ensure accounting department has up to date collection data and entering of accounts receivable, accounts payable and general journal entries is done in a timely manner.
  • Maintain financial security by establishing internal controls.
  • Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Monitor employee expenses, Time Sheets, Credit Card expenses
  • Prepare and send out statement of accounts, invoices
  • Transfer information from new projects into accounting software
  • Track and update Accounts receivable report daily
  • Verify General Ledger for month end
  • Process and send cheques out

Skills/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or college level equivalent
  • 5+ years’ experience preferably in the construction industry
  • Strong budgeting, financial forecasting and financial analysis skills required
  • Experience with Accounting Software (quickbooks online suite)
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
