BRANCH MANAGER

Dowler-Karn Limited, a leading Southwestern Ontario propane and fuel distributor, is seeking a candidate to manage our well established and successful Tillsonburg operation. The Branch Manager is responsible for the daily operations and management of the branch according to set goals and business objectives.

The successful applicant is accountable for the daily operations which includes staff supervision, customer sales and satisfaction, quality assurance in service and delivery operations, overall branch maintenance and administration as well as health, safety and regulatory compliance.

The Branch Manager is key in the responsibility of building customer relationships with new and existing clients and will work closely with our regional sales team and management group to increase sales opportunities, maximize revenue, ensure ongoing customer satisfaction and retain business.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Lead, coach and motivate a team of 9 employees to achieve pre-established goals.
  • Plan, direct and evaluate the operations of the branch.
  • Manage existing clients to ensure ongoing satisfaction and retain business.
  • Oversee the operations of a new bulk fuels facility.
  • Develop, manage, and nurture new business accounts and partnerships to achieve profit and volume goals.
  • Make sure all customer concerns are addressed and handled professionally leaving the customer with a positive resolution.
  • Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to increased sales.
  • Participate in planning of events that promote company services.
  • Liaise with the Regional Manager in order to plan for organizational strategy and initiatives.
  • Determine staffing requirements and participate in recruitment, hiring, training and development of staff.
  • Ensure that all health, safety and other regulations are adhered to avoid any accidents or incidents.

  • Post-secondary education or industry or technical expertise. Knowledge of, or an agricultural background, would be beneficial
  • 3-5 years supervisory experience to oversee the team of employees.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of sales experience.
  • Familiarity with fuels and lubricants along with knowledge of the industry’s regulatory and safety requirements would be beneficial.
  • Excellent organizational, strategic, planning, and implementation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship management skills.
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
  • Professional, responsive, and positive work attitude is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team and achieve results.
  • Computer literate, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel; willingness to learn other computer systems.
  • Ability to follow through and complete overlapping projects.
