Child Care Worker Assistant – Summer Student

Rotholme Women’s and Family Shelter of Mission Services of London, has an opening for a 10-week contract position as a Child Care Worker Assistant.

Qualifications (as stated by Service Canada; Canada Summer Jobs):

• You must be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment

• You must be registered as a full-time student during the preceding academic year

• You intend to return to school on a full-time basis during the next academic year

• You are a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act* and;

• You are legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations

• foreign students are not eligible

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervise up to 20 youth under 16

• Provide supervision and guidance of daily activities, field trips and special activities

• Plan arts, crafts & recreational activities

• Maintain day care supplies and equipment

   

Requirements:

• 1-2 years’ experience with children, recreational leadership and day camp

• Excellent interpersonal, proactive crisis intervention and problem solving skills.

• Job task planning and organizational skills

• Ability to work with children in crisis environment

• Current First Aid-CPR and CPI certification would be an asset

Position Details:

• Salary: $15.53/hour

• 30 hours per week (flexible daytime hours Monday to Friday)

• Contract to run for 10 weeks from start date (July 3^rd – August 31^st, 2017)
