Job Summary
The Maintenance Electrician will be responsible for ensuring that all electrical systems, wiring and equipment remains functional. They will schedule regular maintenance checks for electrical systems, respond to breakdowns, diagnose faults and repair electrical equipment as necessary, while adhering to all safety protocols and procedures. They will ensure continuous improvement by highlighting deficiencies and providing recommendations wherever is needed.

The ability to read blueprints, drawings and specifications is essential to this role, as the Maintenance Electrician will be replacing electrical appliances as needed. The ideal candidate will also be familiar with the Ontario Electrical Safety Code understanding that safety is the number one priority and will act immediately to mitigate or address all safety risks.

This role is ideal for an individual with an extensive background in providing electrical maintenance support for all operations, preferably in a family-operated, manufacturing environment. We are looking for an energetic, hands-on professional with strong follow through and problem-solving skills, with the ability to multi-task.

Qualifications
• 309A license with at least 5 years industrial experience
• Understands that safety is the number one priority
• Familiar with the Ontario Electrical Safety Code book and its regulations
• Ability to work in a team environment and independently
• Proficient in reading blueprints, drawings, and specifications
• Well versed in wiring methods including but not limited to; conductors, cables, conduit, grounding, and distribution equipment
• Understands the importance of supporting production
• Good communicator both written and verbal, and is proficient with documentation
• Experience with control systems, building systems, fire alarms, and pneumatic and hydraulic systems would be considered an asset
• Excellent organizational skills with experience in planning, keeping track of, and reporting on maintenance operations and activity
• Experience working in a high-growth business and interest to work in a fast-paced environment
• Takes initiative without waiting for instruction

Duties and Responsibilities
Electrical Maintenance
• Inspect electrical equipment on a routine basis including wiring, fixtures and other components to ensure everything remains functional and is up to code, as well as identify any potential hazards or issues
• Determine the reasons for any malfunctions of systems or components, and create a maintenance or repair plan to resolve the problem
• Repair electrical systems, wiring, circuit breakers, equipment and other components so that they remain well functioning
• Test systems with devices such as voltmeters, oscilloscopes and ohmmeters to ensure systems remain safe and components are compatible
• Review blueprints to understand the placement of wiring and to comprehend how the equipment works in order to provide the right service and repairs
• Provide suggestions on the lifespan of equipment and other electrical components, advising when certain components should be replaced due to potential risks
• Keep records of all maintenance and repair work conducted, including a record of any supplies ordered and used

Maintenance Management
• Participate in regular maintenance activities, ensuring installation and repair activities are completed within a timely manner
• Follow a Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule ensuring preventative maintenance is carried out, planning recovery time for missed maintenance activities
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety protocols, policies, and procedures on site
• Ensure the proper disposal of defective equipment by obtaining agreement to write it off, to physically removing it and its safe and lawful disposal
• Perform other related duties as assigned
