Type of Position: Full-time Permanent

Hours of Work Per Week: 44

A full-time Professor at Fanshawe College is responsible for providing academic leadership and for developing an effective learning environment for students. The successful candidate will teach Indigenous-based curriculum in the School of Language and Liberal Studies. This position will also be involved in a variety of community activities and consultations, including acting as a liaison with local Indigenous communities and organizations, and participating in new course and program development.

 

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Combination of excellent leadership and teaching skills with a strong commitment to academic excellence and student success

  • Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills required

  • Ability to relate to a wide variety of learners, incorporating principles of universal design

  • Demonstrated experience with education technology required

  • Teaching experience with hybrid and/or online delivery preferred

  • Related experience in industry work, college teaching and curriculum design are assets
     

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-year Bachelor's degree/diploma required

  • Master's degree in Indigenous Studies, Aboriginal Education, or related area preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Education desirable

  • An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered

  • Experience designing and delivering curriculum informed by Indigenous pedagogy

  • Strong working experience working with Indigenous communities and organizations

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of Indigenous issues, values, worldview, cultural protocols and learning styles

 

Approximate Start Date: August 14, 2017

 

Salary: Determination of starting salaries is based on relevant teaching/occupational experience and relevant formal qualifications, supported with original transcripts from granting institutions. The salary scale is $61,638 to $106,853 along with a comprehensive benefit package.

 

Partial load or full-time academic staff presently employed with the College will be given first consideration in accordance with the Academic Collective Agreement.

 

While transcripts are not required for the interview, they are mandatory prior to any offer of employment.
