Job Description

On behalf of my client in London that is in Steel Manufacturing for the Automotive Industry I’m recruiting for a Quality leader for a full-time, Direct Hire position. The facility is located within 15 minutes’ drive from downtown London core and is hoping to hire this position within the next 4 to 6 weeks. There is potential for candidates to provide 2 weeks’ notice, we are looking to start the interview process the week of June 17th at the client company.

Salary: 70 to 75,000 Annually + Overtime Eligible

Shift / Hours of work: Day Shifts 7 am start time; scheduled 40 hour weeks
Required to stay to resolve quality issues for proper hand off to alternate shift quality team member.

Interview Process: In Person at client, phone interview with corporate quality leader, 2nd Interview in person and ability to give notice in current role. Seeking a strong match to encourage longevity.

Quality Engineer Responsibilities:
Primary responsibility includes supporting the shop floor for quality issues, heavy involvement with customer issues, problem solving and root cause analysis in addition to:
  • Maintain IATF 16949 System; ensuring the company is up to speed with any changes to the standard or gaps needing to fill; also, the main interface with internal and external auditing
  • Supervise 2 hourly + salary employees in the Quality Department
  • Working with test lab and gauge room relative to gauge calibration and gauge R&R
  • Communicate directly with customers on 8D and other quality documentation
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects to implement cost saving measures
This position is very hands on, there are no “administrators” for this company, they are very lean focusses and expect this person to roll up their sleeves not delegate work. If this sounds like you please keep reading the list of requirements below.

Quality Facilitator Requirements:
  • Internal or Lead Auditor Certification / Certified Quality Engineer would be an asset
  • Degree or Diploma in Engineering or related is required
  • Previous experience overseeing the Quality Assurance area is required
  • 3 to 5 Years of Experience working in Quality Departments is required
  • Experience working with Electronic ERP based Inventory Systems; Plex software an asset
  • Core quality process including PPAP, PFMEA, 8D, Control Plan, Root Cause Analysis etc.
  • Previous quality background in Automotive Manufacturing is an asset
  • Thorough knowledge of product and production processes related to quality
  • Knowledge of statistical process control, and control charting capabilities are ideal
  • Experience with LEAN initiatives and project experience with implementing change to affect cost savings i.e. scrap reduction projects, time studies to reduce operator error and process improve
  • Strong with MS Office including Word and Excel is necessary
  • Confident communicating to all levels of the plant from hourly production to the CEO and IATF
  • Proven success in working with teams, serving as a project lead or team lead
Note: There is a lot of walking as this plant is very large and still has manual quality boards per dept.
