Job Description

Primary Duties:
  • Conduct individual employment assessments and develop client service delivery plans
  • Provide one-to-one employment services to case-managed clients, in accordance with client service delivery plans
  • Liaise with colleagues on-going basis to monitor client progress and after-services follow up
  • Maintain client case management files, follow up with clients and update required statistical reports
  • Provide guidance, information and support to clients seeking approval for training programs (Better Jobs Ontario)

Secondary Duties:
  • Provide clients with appropriate information, support and referrals to meet their training and employment needs
  • Work as part of the Agency team to ensure smooth delivery and coordination of services to clients
  • Maintain positive professional relationships and communication links with colleagues, public and other relevant community resources
  • Research and update understanding of labour market information and community resources on an ongoing basis
  • Assist with individual or group intake and orientation as required
  • Participate in agency marketing and promotion to various stakeholders including networking sessions and special events
  • Provide information and assistance to clients using the program resources (computers, books, fax, photocopier)
  • Participate in the agency distribution, collection and analysis of participant surveys and other evaluation and tracking procedures
  • Participate in all meetings as required
  • Provide staff backup support as required within team and across locations
  • Handle additional tasks as required by the Manager of Programs and Services

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education in Human Services discipline or equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of adults facing employment transition
  • Sensitivity to, and understanding of, issues and barriers to employment faced by diverse socio-economic groups
  • Familiarity with Employment Ontario programs and guidelines
  • Previous experience with delivery of Better Jobs Ontario, formerly known as the Second Career program
  • Problem solving skills and resourcefulness in meeting clients’ support needs
  • Knowledge of, and familiarity with, community resources within Middlesex County
  • Committed to collaborative team approach with a positive attitude towards change
  • Demonstrated ability to develop goals and service delivery plans with participants
  • Proven employment counselling and facilitation skills
  • Experience with Common Assessment Process and/or ACEC an asset
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, organization and customer service skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Driver’s license and reliable transportation imperative
