GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent leadership and teaching skills with a strong commitment to academic excellence and student success
- Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to relate effectively to a wide variety of learners
- Strong technical/computer skills and familiarity with educational technologies
- Previous college teaching experience and knowledge of curriculum design and student evaluations are assets
- Extensive knowledge and experience in embedded firmware design as well as board-level electronics design required
- PC software development would be an excellent complementary skill set
- The candidate will work with students designing and developing embedded solutions and 'Internet of Things' devices
- Primary responsibilities include teaching firmware and software development along with mentoring electronic design projects
- Post-secondary 3 year Electronics Engineering degree or Electronics Technologist diploma
- Minimum 5 years of current and relevant embedded systems development
- Firmware: Embedded applications, Client/Server and Communication protocol design, RTOS principles, low-power architecture design
- Software: C (in embedded systems), C++, C#, Python, Source Control
- Communications: RS232, RS485, I2C, USB, Ethernet, Low-power wireless (e.g. 802.15.4), general protocol development
- Hardware: The design and validation of low-power, embedded systems
- RF experience an asset
