Senior Mechanical Quality Inspector

Job Description

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspection and monitoring of incoming, in process, and finished materials for acceptance to specification or non-conformance issues.
  • Analysis of machined, fabricated parts, hardware, raw material, etc.
  • Create and maintain accurate inspection records, databases and relevant reports
  • Analyze and understand product First Piece Inspection (FPI) requirements based on drawings and Quality clauses.
  • Assemble and review FPI data packages for presentation.
  • Present FPI data package to Customer Representative
  • Assess FPI requirements in conjunction with business development and quoting personnel with respect to review of quality standards required specific to each customer.
  • Some interaction with external parties on technical / quality matters
  • Assist in the processing of customer inquiries and complaints as they relate to quality, in a timely and professional manner and feedback accordingly and provide input into corrective /preventative actions
  • Initiate prompt feedback for internal non-conformance issues with a view to promoting and to Quality Management of results/findings and provide input to corrective actions
  • Support new product development and continuous improvement by integrating quality control tools (e.g. Lean, PFMEA, etc.) into processes.
  • Support maintenance and continuous improvement of ISO 9001-2008 Quality Management System.
  • Assist in performing quality audits to achieve and maintain metrics.
  • Assist in creation and implementation of technical documentation, including project plans, test procedures, design documents, schematics and part lists.
  • Provide support for product development and plant trials
  • Train plant personnel (ie: production, quality, shipping, maintenance, etc.) on quality requirements
  • Promote Quality with all employees in the organization, understanding prevention is a priority over detection.

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary education - technical discipline preferred;
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints; strong understanding of GD & T;
  • Proficient use of basic measuring instruments;
  • Strong mechanical capabilities– machined and welded components;
  • Paint inspection experience a definite asset
  • Strong analytical, organizational skills and problem solving skills;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook);
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Demonstrate initiative, reliability and positive team attitude
  • Attention to detail a priority
  • Ability to learn ERP Software packages including P21 Software knowledge
  • Ability to instruct and train people
