Job Description

Presstran Industries, a division of Magna International located in St. Thomas, Ontario, has developed an enviable reputation as a supplier to the automotive industry known for the high quality of its product and the excellence of its service. Presstran's lines of automotive stampings and welding assemblies are used in front motor compartments, underbody structures, truck frame components and front and rear suspensions as well as non-automotive applications
 
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Quality Technician selects and inspects production parts according to product work instructions.  Trains personnel and ensures documentation is current and rejected material is tagged, logged and quarantined.
 
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
 
  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Post-secondary education in Quality or Engineering an asset
  3. Minimum 2 years Q.A. and/or quality inspection and/or practical related manufacturing experience or relative Co-op experience.
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  5. Must have a working knowledge in the application of SPC techniques and interpretation of data.
  6. Must demonstrate good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  7. Must be able to read and interpret GD&T data and understand tolerance requirements as seen on a print.
  8. Able to work all three shifts as required.
 
DUTIES:
 
  1. Able to prepare, manage and administrate the use of inspection documentation fastener check sheets etc. for the shop floor.
  2. Able to use and understand inspection cards and fixtures, Understands and can demonstrate  first-off procedures for all processes
  3. Reviews concerns and problems from previous shifts.
  4. Audits to ensure appropriate first-off procedures for all processes are followed.
  5. Continually monitors production for quality problems on a day-to-day basis
  6. Ability to understand, monitor and maintain adherence to the non-conforming/containment procedures/processes
  7. Continually monitors production for quality problems on a day-to-day basis.
  8. Able to logically think through problems and provide recommendations for solutions
  9. Ability to train and communicate the requirements of the quality systems to production personnel.
  10. Prepares PPAP documentation for submission to customer
  11. Ability to train and communicate the requirements of the quality systems to production personnel
  12. Understand and can conduct Layered Process Audits
  13. Has understanding of TS16949 and ISO14001.
  14. Must have a working knowledge in the application of SPC techniques and interpretation of data.

EQUIPMENT and/or PRODUCT FAMILIARITY:
Equipment:  Various checking fixtures, various measuring instruments, associated hand tools, electronic data collectors, telephone, photocopier(s), fax machine, PC, etc.
Software: Excel, Microsoft Office, statistical software, databases, Mechanical Desktop, etc
