Job Description
Our Client, a well established family-owned business with a solid reputation celebrating 100 years in Elgin County, is looking to add a Controller to their management team. This exciting opportunity is due to a soon to retirement of a valued staff member. This progressive operation has several departments offering exemplary customer service. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following responsibilities
The successful candidate will be offered a compensation package in the $85-105,000 range comprised of salary and bonus provisions. The compensation program includes a comprehensive benefit package, group RRSP provisions, attractive vacation allotment and numerous other employee incentives.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following responsibilities
- Organize financial resources of the dealership; implement necessary controls; maintain accurate records; prepare files for audit
- Analyze and prepare monthly and year-end financial statements
- Organize monthly meetings with department managers and owners to review financial statements and performance to forecast and help develop action plans to address required improvements
- Plan short and long-term profit projections for the dealership; determine departmental sales and gross required to cover overhead and generate profit. Plan and manage expenses by the department to achieve forecast projections
- Create and maintain an effective cash management system; preserve loss reserves for possible liabilities and trade receivables
- Liaise with corporate auditors and bankers to understand their year-end audit needs and ensure they receive monthly financial statements on a timely basis
- Accounting designation CPA, CMA, CGA or CA or a minimum of five years of study with ten or more years of practical work experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a Controller role or financial management position.
- Supervisory and staff development experience.
- Knowledge of applicable regulations and laws pertaining to the automotive industry
- Financial analysis experience
- Working knowledge of bank and insurance terminology and processes
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work under own initiative, with little supervision
- Ability to utilize technology and expertise to support the organization.
