PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:
Develop and lead the execution of a comprehensive and multi-faceted strategy to engage current students and alumni within their first ten years of graduation and to build awareness of the Ivey Alumni Network within this community.  The Alumni Relations Associate will play a critical role in managing relationships with members of the alumni, student, faculty and staff communities.

KEY RESULT AREAS:
 
  1. Innovate, design, develop and implement a comprehensive recent alumni program to engage and educate students and recent graduates on the strength and pride of the Ivey Alumni Network through a variety of programs, volunteer and leadership opportunities, and communication strategies to cultivate dynamic, reciprocal and life-long relationships with the Ivey Business School and the Ivey Alumni Network. Act as primary contact for all student and faculty inquiries that involve an alumni connection.   
     
  2. Manage corporate sponsorship of all student-led initiatives. Educate and counsel student leaders in their fundraising activities and adherence to both Western and Canada Revenue Agency guidelines in budgeting, invoicing and payment processing.  
     
  3. Manage and approve all alumni-related special events including, but not limited to, Global Ivey Day, class lectures or keynotes, student-led conferences and events. Manage process of engaging alumni speakers for various events including, but not limited to, class speakers, HBA Leaders Forum, MBA Sustainability Conference, and student club events ensuring all stakeholders (Program Offices, Career Management, Advancement, alumni, faculty and students) are informed.
     
  4. Develop and implement strategic programs to build a stronger relationship between Advancement, the Ivey Alumni Network, and the student community (HBA, MBA, EMBA, MSc and PhD), all Program Directors/Offices through programs such as Global Ivey Day, including all ongoing and new initiatives of the Ivey Alumni Network.
 
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • University degree;
  • Two years related work experience an asset; experience in a fundraising environment preferred;
 
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Leadership skills and the ability to make decisions independently;
  • Ability to independently assess project challenges and obstacles, and to identify solutions based on knowledge and understanding of organization and stakeholders;
  • Thorough understanding of corporate structures and knowledge of the Canadian business environment.  Customer service experience in a professional environment;
  • Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills, attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple priorities effectively;
  • Extremely effective interpersonal skills with a professional presence and manner; capable of exercising independent judgment and flexibility;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to write effectively and persuasively and to converse easily with alumni, major gift donors, faculty, students and other stakeholders of the School;
  • Flexibility with work hours (occasional evenings, weekends and overnight travel are regularly required throughout the year);
  • Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite; demonstrated aptitude to quickly adapt to new technologies;
  • Ability to adapt and work effectively within a variety of situations and with a diverse group of individuals  or independently;
  • Maturity, poise and diplomacy with the ability to build effective relationships with alumni, senior business leaders, students, faculty and staff;
  • A public relations orientation; tact, diplomacy, a well-developed sense of style and a strong instinct for social protocol;
  • Event management, or similar, experience is preferred.
 
Location: Ivey Business School, Western University, London, Ontario

This is a 2 year renewable contract position with full benefits.
