Job Description

We have an opening for a full-time Intermediate/Senior Accident Benefits Clerk.

The main responsibilities for this role include:
  • maintaining Statutory Accident Benefit files and special damages lists;
  • meeting with clients to obtain status updates and complete application forms for accident benefits;
  • requesting documentation from various care providers;
  • writing to employers;
  • preparing Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO) Application for Mediation and Application for Arbitration;
  • file review;
  • drafting correspondence;
  • trial preparation;
  • correpond with OHIP for subrograted claims;
  • communicate regularly via fax/telephone/e-mail to clients (and their family members), Accident Benefit Adjusters and our clients' treatment providers;
  • assist clients with the completion of their initial accident benefit forms (ie. OCF-1, OCF-2, OCF-3);
  • arrange/co-ordinate treatment for clients (ie. physio, occupational therapist, psychology, speech language pathologists, etc.);
  • attend client and team meetings;
  • prepare and maintain special damages chart for each client;
  • maintain/update accident benefit chart (internla chart used for tracking OCF-18s, expences, etc.);
  • submit clients' expenses to their insurance company and follow-up regarding same;
  • prepare and file Applications for Mediation/Arbitration with the FSCO when disputes over benefits/treatments arise with the insurance company;
  • assist lawyers with settlement discussions and FSCo mediations;
  • pay incoming invoices related to accident benefits;
  • maintaining an effective bring forward (BF) system;
  • briefing.
Experience in Primafact and Caselogistix will be an asset for this position.                
 
The successful candidate for  this position will demonstrate excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills and enjoy working independently as well as in a fast-paced team environment.
