Job Description
People Management Group is currently seeking a permanent, full-time Production Scheduler for a client located in Woodstock. This is an entry level Production Scheduler position for someone with solid experience in manufacturing. Preference will be given to candidates with experience working in a fabrication and welding manufacturing facility.
The Production Scheduler will act as a valuable member of the Production Team completing many essential duties of the production process and providing administrative support to other members of the Production Team.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Production Scheduler will plan, schedule and monitor the movement of materials through the various production processes. The overall objective is to ensure customer committed deliveries are continually met, while ensuring an efficient use of resources. The Production Scheduler is directly responsible for the scheduling of production orders through the shop, capacity planning activities for the various machine centers, procurement of subcontracted services (machining and various metal finishing) and customer service.Responsibilities
- Plan and establish production schedules in order to meet committed delivery dates.
- Ensure production releases are in line with available production capacities.
- Generate cutting nests for laser and water jet work centers.
- Complete out-services purchases for machining, roll forming and metal finishing processes.
- Generating RFQ’s and select vendors based on best price / delivery / quality.
- Communicate with the Purchasing Department to ensure material orders and lead times match planned production releases.
- Work closely with Engineering Department regarding planned releases for new items and projects.
- Implement effective capacity planning tools in order to identify possible bottlenecks in manufacturing.
- Liaison with Production Supervisors on all shifts when developing manufacturing strategies.
- Perform auditing roles to ensure intermediate production targets are being met.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives from the various departments.
- Foster constructive and cooperative working relationships with all production employees.
- Provide customer service and support with respect to delivery requirements, packaging requirements and communicating reschedules to ensure customer needs are being met.
- Handle incoming requests and concerns from customers and ensure that issues are resolved both promptly and thoroughly.
- Provide backup support for quoting activities.
