Job Description
Our client located in Southwestern Ontario is in search of a Professional Engineer with an electrical background to join their team on a permanent basis. Our client offers roof top and ground mounted arrays.
Position Profile
The role for the electrical engineer is to contribute and guide their team of designers, providing engineering input and oversight of project design and development. The electrical engineer will also interact and coordinate with local distribution companies, and the Electrical Safety Authority while leading the completion of photovoltaic project designs and managing other PV designers & technologists.
They are seeking an electrical engineer who is currently involved in the renewable industry or is looking to move into the solar industry while utilizing their experience and knowledge in the engineering & design department. The candidate will be responsible to approve and stamp electrical drawings.
Responsibilities:
• Design & engineer electrical AC & DC systems for solar arrays on commercial & industrial buildings;
• Draw or modify single line diagrams and write engineering specifications;
• Approve & stamp electrical drawings that were executed under the engineer’s supervision;
• Review of internal and external designs for code compliance, good design practice and constructability;
• Perform site surveys and field reviews; and
Qualifications - Desired Skills, Knowledge and Expected Duties:
• Minimum 5 years experience in Electrical Engineering field, Licensed to practice as a Professional Engineer in Ontario.
• Strong familiarity with the primary components of a solar array – Solar modules, Inverters,
Combiners, monitoring and racking systems.
• Must have strong understanding of commercial & industrial electrical systems including 3-phase power transmission.
• Construction industry experience a strong asset.
• Design principles for long term reliability.
• Electronics testing standards and certification (IEC, UL, CE, etc.).
• Assembly, troubleshooting and testing of solar array systems; including the use of hand-tools, power tools, and electronic diagnostic equipment.
• Management of large external projects
