The Fire Protection Estimator is a motivated, organized, and personable individual willing to contribute his/her experience and expertise in the area of estimating.  The Fire Protection Estimator prepares quotations based on reviewing construction drawings and specifications.  The Fire Protection Estimator is a team player and is capable of working independently. 

Job Description

The Fire Protection Estimator is a full-time position.  He/she will be responsible for the following tasks:

·         Preparation of quotations based on reviewing construction drawings and specifications

·         Lay out of fire protection systems, including but not limited to: sprinkler systems, standpipe systems, fire pump and special fire suppression systems in accordance with codes.

·         Produce a quantity take off list of material, labour and other construction factors to produce a cost estimate.

·         Preparation of a detailed quotation letter to send to customer(s) in a competitive situation.

·         General communication with General Contractors, Engineers, Architects and Owners.

Qualifications

Essential:

·         Minimum Grade 12 Diploma

·         Diplomacy, tact and good judgment

·         Mathematical skills

·         Positive professional attitude

·         Ability to set priorities and manage time effectively in busy environment

·         Work in a team atmosphere

·         Organization, communication and writing skills mandatory

·         Proficiency in MS Office including Work, Excel and Outlook

·         General computer knowledge

·         Able to work independently

·         FCFP will train for preferred qualifications

Preferred Skills (Optional):

·         Blue print reading

·         Construction experience

·         Previous fire sprinkler design or estimating experience

·         Knowledge of NFPA codes
