Part-time Cleaner (evenings) at Independent School

Montessori Academy of London (MA) is a leader in independent education in London. We’re seeking a part-time, experienced cleaner/janitor to assist in cleaning duties within our organization. This is a part-time position (4 hrs daily) Monday to Friday 4:30pm to 8:30pm with some flexibility. MA supports more than 330 students ranging from 18 months through 14 years of age.

Responsibilities/ duties include but may not be limited to:

  • Sweeping and mopping floors
  • Dusting furniture, vacuuming and steam cleaning carpets and area rugs
  • Washing walls, doors, counters, shelves and windows
  • Clean, disinfect and polish kitchen and bathroom fixtures and appliances
  • Clean and disinfect public areas such as offices, changing rooms, and elevators
  • Pick up debris and empty trash containers 

Qualifications

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be reliable and willing to work flexible hours when needed
  • Able to effectively communicate with staff and supervisors orally and through written text
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to push/pull/move/lift 25lbs
  • Ability to stay motivated when completing daily tasks
  • Ability to work independently, or as part of a team, with minimal supervision
  • Must provide a valid Police Vulnerable Sector Check – PVSC
  • Experience with general household cleaning
  • Understand WHMIS and how this applies to workplace safety

  • Wage: $18.75/hr
